Moral Theology - Introduction

Moral Theology – A Theology of Christian Living

Moral Theology is a Theology, and a Theology is a science about / of God. It has God as he was revealed himself as the main object of its study. Theology is based upon revelation, in which we receive in faith, the mystery that God himself has revealed, primarily about Himself, and with the aid of reason enlightened by Faith. We attempt to penetrate this mystery for a deeper faith, a faith that opens unto the salvific power of God.

Moral Theology deals therefore with God present by Grace in Human activity. The attention in moral theology is focused not on morality as such, but on God, who manifests himself mysteriously in sanctified human activity.

Moral Theology depicts how the integrative, deifying and at the same time, beatifying presence of God manifests itself in the human psyche, in action, in free choices, n responding to the values in moral acts.
Moral Theology deals, therefore, not just with norms or with good and sinful acts, but with God, who, through grace, liberates goodness in man. If the norm is mentioned, then it is a signpost, a helping direction that ultimately consists in the law of the Spirit, in which the Grace of the Holy Spirit becomes a direct norm of activity of the spiritually transformed person.
